Grass-fed Heritage Breed Pork
Midvale Farm raises Kunekune Pigs because of an ever increasing interest in this pig for quality meat and quality fat. The current trend among chefs includes the use of the whole hog and that includes the fat. We feed our pigs a variety of NON-GMO feeds which include, but are not limited to, pasture grass, hay, limited fruits and veggies.
Our pasture-raised pork is quickly becoming a favorite of our customers.
Our pigs live out on the pasture for their entire stay at Midvale Farm. They are moved to fresh pasture regularly so they stay clean and healthy. Their feed is free of antibiotics and they are not crowded in small pens. In fact, the pigs receive no antibiotics, hormones, or artificial supplements over their lifetime. This definitely improves the quality of the meat and the quality of the animal’s life. In a barn, pigs must be fed all their vitamins and minerals. A pasture raised hog can root and dig to find its own minerals. At Midvale Farm we don’t raise ordinary pigs, we raise Happy Pigs.
The cattle at Midvale Farm is a mixed herd of Hereford and Angus. Our beef is from cattle that are raised and finished completely on grass. We mob graze our cattle in a rotational system, mimicking the predator/prey relationship found in nature. This allows us to more efficiently graze our cattle and impact our pastures while allowing us to improve our soil quality and forage stands.
We will begin offering pasture raised broilers in the Spring of 2017.
